RISK AWARENESS
Daily loss limits and trailing drawdown
Prop firm rules change by program and account state. Read the current rule page for the account in front of you, then keep your own guardrails separate from the platform's enforcement.
Daily Loss Limit (DLL)
Topstep's current help page says DLL is optional in the Trading Combine and Express Funded Account and automatic in the Live Funded Account. When it triggers, the platform may flatten positions, cancel pending orders and pause new trades for the session. Read the official DLL article for the latest scope, timing and settings.
Maximum Loss Limit (MLL)
MLL is a separate trailing floor. Topstep describes it as monitored in real time, including unrealized P&L, with the threshold moving as the account grows and then locking under the conditions in its program. See Topstep's MLL explanation instead of relying on a generic dollar figure copied from another account type.
Platform rule versus personal rule
A platform limit is an enforcement boundary. Your personal stop for the day can be tighter and should account for spread, slippage, news and your own decision quality. Write down both values before the session. A tool can display or help manage an action, but it cannot guarantee that a market order fills at a specific price or that a rule will not be breached.
What Risk Guard means here
TradeSidecar's Risk Guard is a Coming Soon roadmap item. TSPilot's current stop and cooldown controls are workflow tools; they are not a compliance guarantee and do not replace the account's own risk settings.
Program names, values and session hours can change. Verify the official help center and your account's settings immediately before relying on a rule.
